Additional Notes: Petitions are filed with the Washington County Clerk of Courts office. At that time they will put in first call to CARE regarding bed availability. The Judge reviews the petition and if granted he will enter order for Ex Parte good for 5-10 days. It will then be up the petitioner to continue to follow up daily with CARE until a bed finally becomes available. When it does it will up to the family to inform the Sheriff’s office so they can take the respondent for evaluation. Once the evaluation is completed, if mandatory treatment is recommended, CARE will petition the courts in its own county for involuntary treatment. If the respondent is released and goes back to Washington County, the petitioner must go to Life Management Center in Holms or Washington County to obtain petitions for Involuntary Treatment. * There are no residential programs in Washington County.
